Firemen trapped

PA Timaru Four men were last evening trapped in the Upper Rangitata Valley waiting for swollen streams to drop before they could get out. The men, all firemen in the Timaru Fire Service, are safe and well, according to police, and are sheltering in a mountain hut. The party was reported overdue on Tuesday evening and was located by search aeroplane yesterday. Police said yesterday the party was travelling by a four-wheel-drive vehicle. It. might be two days before river levels were low enough to cross safely.
