Kiwi little moved
PA Wellington The New Zealand dollar closed little changed yesterday after a listless session. Dealers expect similar trade to continue short term. The kiwi closed at U566.38/45c against its open of U566.41/48c_and Tuesday’s close of U566.47C. Its traded high was U566.46c and its low was U566.21C. On the cross the kiwi was worth Aust92.slc, 1.1235 marks, 37.61 p, 85.476 yen and 0.9232 Swiss francs. The Reserve Bank trade weighted index closed unchanged at 66.8. In Sydney, the Australian dollar finished near its day’s peak on late buying but still within its recent narrow trading range, dealers said.
The U.S. dollar finished mixed in Sydney at 1.6915/25 marks and 128.68/78 yen from New York’s 1.6940/50 and 128.90/00 close.
In Tokyo, the dollar closed easier but above its lows on shortcovering after operators tried the currency’s downside, dealers said.
The dollar closed at 128.75 yen and 1.6915/20 marks against 128.90/ 129.00 and 1.6940/50
