It features New Zealand’s Simon Poelman up against two of the world’s top decathlon exponents. 9.30 COMING OF AGE IN THE PACIFIC. A joint TVNZ-Channel Four documentary. The tiny Pacific nation of Palau has battled to retain its nuclear-free constitution against pressure from the United States which wants access for its defence forces. This documentary, shot over Christmas, reveals how assassination and intimidation have come in the wake of the American pressure for change. 10.15 NEWS. 10.30 EXCLUSIVE YARNS. A play about a fictional soap set in a wool shop called Exclusive Yarns, and its effect on its actors and audience. It is watched avidly by four men who become glamorous stars by dressing up and re-enacting each weekly episode. But when a new actress arrives, things take a turn for the worse for the stars and their devoted fans. Starring Maureen Lipman, Patricia Hodge, Lesley Joseph. 11.30 SUMMER MOVIE: TWO KINDS OF LOVE. Devastated by the death of his much-loved mother, a young boy seeks comfort from his distant father. Starring Ricky Schroder, Lindsay Wagner, Peter Weller. 1.20 CLOSEDOWN.
