Love, jealousy and exile
The new six-part drama series, “Lost Belongings” is a love story set in the troubled world of Northern Ireland in 1980. It draws on classic themes of love, jealousy and exile and sets them against a teeming background of street politics and media hype, revolution and rock music. Deirdre and Niall meet when she is still at school and he is the ambitious leader of a struggling Irish rock band. But from the start their relationship is threatened — she is Protestant and he is a Roman Catholic.
Deirdre’s struggle to balance family duty
against powerful inner emotions involves her with a diverse range of people. Through it all there is Niall. His love for Deirdre blossoms when they escape to London, but it is to be severely tested on their return to Belfast. “Lost Belongings’ is filmed entirely on location in Northern Ireland and Eire. The cast is headed by Catherine Brennan as Deirdre, Gerard O’Hare as Niall and Harry Towb as Roy Connell. “Lost Belongings” screens Sundays at 10.05 p.m. on One.
