Trocane will miss Auck. carnival
PA Auckland Trocane seems to have recovered from her big effort at Avondale, but her trainers, Brian and Bruce Deacon, have decided against running her during the Auckland summer carnival.
Some thought had been given to her tackling the Flag Inns Trophy on the fourth day. It now seems she will return to racing with a sprint at Avondale on January 9, followed by the weight-for-age Evergreen Lodge Challenge Stakes at Rotorua on January 16. Providing she makes it
through both events in the right shape, she would be set for the big feature race planned for Ellerslie on February 1.
Allowed to stretch out at Takanini on Thursday the rider, Brendan Sargent, Trocane ran 800 m at about 12m wide in 53.2.
Continuing their preparations for the second day of the Ellerslie meeting on Tuesday, Tri Belle and Come Racing drew attention, both going attractively. Tri Belle, ridden by Lorna Alekna, strode to the 600 m and sprinted from there in 39, and Come Racing, after start-
ing slowly from the 800, did the last 600 in the same time.
Tri Belle will continue her comeback in the weight-for-age King’s Plate on Tuesday and Come Racing is being set for the Group 111 Eclipse Stakes on the fourth day, January 2.
Infinite Secret, which will run next in the Flag Inns Trophy, ran 1000 m comfortably in 1:6.6. He took a little time to get over the Star Way Stakes at Te Aroha, in which he went well for a close second but is clearly thriving again.
