Childs to ride Young Indian
PA Wellington The Bayer Classic winner, Young Indian, will be riden by Greg Childs in the New Zealand Derby at Ellerslie And the colt’s Maungakaramea owner-trainer, Norman Morgan, said the race tactics will be left entirely up to the jockey. “I’ll leave it up to him,” Morgan said. “He’s a bigrace rider and a good, instinctive judge of a horse. He’d have a much better idea than I would about how the race may go.” Morgan and Peter Tims, the colt’s regular rider, had organised Childs after being ruled off the horse by a suspension.
