Incest by father alleged
Incest with his daughter on occasions over mcffe than three years was alleged in the District Court yesterday against a man aged 46. After a preliminary hearing in which evidence from the complainant, now aged 15, and six other prosecution witnesses was heard, Messrs C. W. Crawford and D.
Wilson, Justices of the Peace committed the defendant for trial by jury. He was remanded on bail pending a date for his trial. Mandatory suppression of the names of the defendant and complainant are in force. The charge of incest related to the defendant’s
allegedly having had sexual intercourse with his daughter on a number of occasions between January 1,1984, and April 30 this year, when his daughter was aged between 12 and 15 years. Mr M. J. Callaghan, who appeared for the defendant, reserved his defence. Sergeant J. E. Dwyer prosecuted.
