Challenge lines up with world food products
Challenge Meats’ Pastons brand lamb cuts will line up with the world’s best food products at the prestigious Anuga Food Fair held in Cologne during October. The five-day fair is the world’s foremost food fair, attracting top tradespeople from around the globe. The size of the fair can best be gauged by the fact ’ that it takes three days to get around it, and
has more than 200,000 visitors. Challenge Meats will share a New Zealand stand with three other Fletcher Challenge companies, namely Wrightson Venison, Fletcher Fishing and Wrightson Horticulture. New Zealand chefs will demonstrate the versatility of the Pastons brand lamb cuts, while Challenge representatves will
explain the background and development of the product. Susan Tulloch, product manager for the Red Meats Team, said the fair was an excellent opportunity to show the world the Pastons range. Challenge was sending to Anuga representatives from its N.Z. quality control, production and marketing teams, and personnel from the U.K. office.
Trevor Johnston, general manager, Makarewa and Mataura plants, was leading a team of plant managers and production personnel for an educational tour of the Anuga fair. "It will give us a great chance to see how our products line up against other types of food,” he said. The team was also visiting London, to meet with key U.K. customers, and Copenhagen, to view
different processing systems. "When we return, we will be able to pass on to all staff the' trends we have seen,” said Trevor. He said the fact that Challenge was prepared to send production personnel overseas to make personal observations demonstrates the commitment by the company to ensure Challenge products meet the needs of present and future consumers.
