UPGRADING TO MEET CONSUMER DEMAND Because Challenge is committed to meeting consumer demand, we are spending $13.7m on an upgrading and expansion programme that is one of the largest undertaken at our plants for many years. We are revamping freezer rooms, installing more chillers, new plant and equipment, upgrading cutting and boning operations to meet our market plan of increased further processing. Our market studies prove that > consumers want products that are < consistently lean, tender, versatile and convenient to use. v That's why Challenge's further % processing operations at our plants will increase by 20 per cent this season, and by another 10 per cent next season, to bring us to our goal of 80 per cent further processing. There will be more efficiency and more jobs, better facilities for our suppliers and for our staff. We have confidence in this industry — come share that confidence with us. < Challenge developments — yet another fine example of our dedication and drive to lead the New Zealand meat industry to meet market requirements.
