Gardening course

Sir,—Your article concerning the Access organic gardening scheme (September 30) leaves several questions unanswered. What, for Instance, are the actual objectives of the course? Another mysterious point concerns the nature of the “other evaluations” referred to by Mr Terry Hill. Could not the writer of the article have given some clue or hint as to the meaning of that expression? The article presents some defences of this Access scheme, for instance, by Chris Beardsley, but nowhere does it present details of the charges that the course is being defended against The reader is left with a disquieting impression of the course, an impression based on “nagging doubts,” "major questions” and “other sources.” Obviously something fishy is going on, concerning this scheme, but my suspicions point towards those who attack it with vague aspersions and innuendo.—Yours, etc.,

STEVE LUKE. October 6, 1987.
