Arbitrators’ conference
Arbitration law and procedure is discussed by delegates to the Institute of Arbitrators Australia conference in Christchurch yesterday. From left are New Zealand’s Chief Justice, Sir Ronald Davison; Mr Justice Legoe, Supreme Court, South Australia; Mr Justice Rogers, Chief Judge of the Commercial Division of the Supreme Court, South Australia; Mr Justice Ormiston, Supreme Court, Victoria; Mr Justice Smart, Supreme Court, New South Wales; and Mr John Dorter, the president of the Institute of Arbitrators, Australia.
The five-day conference began with an address by Sir Ronald Davison. The conference is being attended by Australian legal representatives, engineers and architects. The conference will examine topics ranging from international arbitration to the role of the courts, conciliation and questions of common law. A three-day general arbitration course begins tomorrow.
