Mayoral group for China
PA Hamilton The Mayor of Hamilton, Mr Ross Jansen, will lead a delegation of six New Zealand mayors to China later this month. Mr Jansen will arrive in China on October 20 with the Mayors of Rotorua, Tokoroa, Palmerston North, Upper Hutt, Nelson, and Lower Hutt He said yesterday the trip bad been initiated by the Chinese Government agency,’ Youxie (People’s Association for Friendship
with Foreign Countries), and would take in six centres including Hamilton’s sister city, Wuxi. Mr Jansen said costs inside China would be met by Youxie. He said Hamilton’s 18-month-old link with Wuxi had resulted in a number of exciting developments, including formation of the Wuxi-Hamilton Commerce Development Company. A number of trade possibilities were being explored.
