Stolen property found
Cigarettes valued at $4500 were among stolen property recovered yesterday in police searches of two Christchurch homes and one in Amberley. The cartoned cigarettes are believed to have been stolen in a burglary of Daily Freightways, Ltd, Mowbray Street, on Monday night. 1 ' Fashion clothing worth $2500, stolen in two recent burglaries of MacAlisters Apparel, Ltd, in Barbour Street, Linwood, was also recovered. stopped a utility about 6.30 a.m. yesterday and found cigarettes and clothing in the vehicle. Inquiries resulted in the three houses being searched and the recovery of an estimated $BOOO in stolen property. A youth, aged 16, has been arrested on a charge of receiving the stolen cigarettes. Two others have been charged with the burglary of MacAlisters Apparel twice and with the burglary of Daily Freightways. Further charges are pending.
