Roadside surveys on traffic flow

If you are driving near Christchurch on State highway I today the chances of being pulled over to the roadside are good. - However, it will probably not be a traffic officer beckoning you to the side of the road — points north and south of Christchurch will be survey points on today for collecting traffic-flow . data. The points will be staffed by Canterbury United Council, Ministry of Works and Development, and Christchurch

City Council employees. Data will be collected from 12 automatic traffic counters and roadside interviews with drivers. ■ According to Mr Ritchie Wood, of Hie United Council, the interview will consist of five “simple questions and should cause very little delay.” The information Will then be used to assist in the planning of road improvements in the Christchurch area. , The two interview points will be at Pinehaven to the north and Rolleston to the south.
