TVNZ positions announced

PA Wellington Four appointments to television management positions have been announced by the DirectorGeneral of Television New Zealand, Mr Julian Mounter.

Mr Graeme Wilson, aged 42, joins TVNZ’s seven-person directorate as director of planning and public affairs.

Mr Wilson, who was bom and educated in Dunedin, was responsible for the development of TVNZ’s network centre building now under construction in Auckland. His earlier background as a journalist and producer in Australia and New Zealand has included work as TVNZ’s head of current affairs and editor of news. Mr Brian Bell, Inver-cargill-bom and Timarueducated, will be TVNZ’s head of drama.

His 25-year career in television began with the 8.8.C.’s drama department in 1962. He has worked in both Australia and New Zealand as a writer, director and producer in light en-

tertainment, drama, opera and documentaries. Mr Bell won several awards for. his television work, and in New Zealand his work has included the adaptation for television (with Maurice Shadbolt) of “Strangers and Journeys.” Mr Michael Stedman, aged 41, has been appointed head of wildlife programmes in a move which creates a new department. He returned to Dunedin earlier this year after working as the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s head of features. He was previously the head of television at the Australian film and television school. ■; Mr Barry Parkin becomes controller of acquisitions responsible for overseas programmes. Mr Parkin has been Involved in programme planning and purchasing for almost 30 years, first with the 8.8. C. for six years and for TVNZ since 1962. He has also worked in Hong Kong and Australia.
