Postbank charges

Sir, —It is with a feeling of resentment, anger and of being let down that I write to complain and express my indignance atthe latest moves by Postbank. As if the charging for counter cheques ($2 for the second and each subsequent one) was- not enough, the non-paying of interest to accounts with less than a $3OO balance is intolerable. It is said that this is the way that Postbank will become more profitable. I suggest this move will cause the closing of a great number of accounts by the everyday

workers that the Post Office used to cater for. It is obvious that Postbank only wishes to have the wealthy for customers. — Yours, etc.,

L. RICHES. October 5,1987.

Sir,—Yet another act of oppression against the long-suffer-ing public has occurred under the Labour regime. Postbank has decided to charge $2 for cheques (after the first cheque) issued on behalf of depositors. Thus a superannuitant, paying the usual M.E.D. and insurance accounts, was charged $12.40 for six cheques and stamps to post these. The accounts could not be paid in the north-west suburb in which the woman lived. The increase in superannuation is rendered useless in the face of increased charges like these. — Yours, etc., S. L. DONALDSON. October 1,1987.
