Vice-Regal stay in Chch

A Christchurch civic reception with 150 guests last evening marked the official start of two weeks residence In the South Island by the GovernorGeneral, Sir Paul Reeves, and Lady Reeves. Tomorrow, Sir Paul and Lady Reeves will officially visit Bumham Military Camp, where Sir

Paul will inspect a 100man guard of honour and present the Efficiency Decoration to five Territorial Force officers. Lady Reeves will visit the camp kindergarten. A display by the Army’s Ready Reaction Force will include a chance for Sir Paul to drive an armoured vehicle and fire some of the Army’s latest weapons.

The Vice-Regal party wil visit Ashburton and Timaru on Thursday and Friday. They will fly to Mount Cook for the centennial celebrations of New Zealand national parks on Saturday. Visits to Lyttelton, Akaroa, and Nelson are also planned.
