Jaguar (NZ) Ltd has entered racing sponsorship with the Jaguar Cup, formerly the Queen Elizabeth Handicap, on the first day of the Auckland Racing Club’s summer carnival. The first three horses In the Jaguar Cup, as in the Queen Elizabeth, will gain automatic entry to the DB Auckland Cup, over 3200 m on New Year’s Day, and for the first time the winner will not be rehandicapped.
The Jaguar company has also agreed to sponsor .an Archibald and Shorter Handicap at the ARC Anniversary Weekend meeting. That will be part of a special programme the club is putting together for visitors to Auckland for the inaugural National Yearling Sales at Karaka.
