$1000 given to ambulance service
The St John Ambulance Service is $lOOO better off after it received a donation from the Rotary Club in Christchurch. Hie club gave $lOOO in response to appeals from St John to service clubs for financial assistance after its annual balance showed the service was suffering losses. The losses this past year were four times greater than in the previous year. St John’s Christchurch general manager, Mr Bernard Chatterton, expected further response to the appeal and said several other service organisations had expressed interest in buying vital equipment for it.
