Tenancies Act

Sir,—The new Residential Tenancies Act comes into force on February 1, 1987. It is of deep concern to the New Zealand Properly Investors’ Federation as to whether landlords outside our organisation and tenants will be versed in all aspects of the act to avoid difficulties and penalties. A broad outline of the act is to be found in the Housing Corporation guide, but there are amendments and finer points which could trap the unwary, i.e. provisions regarding rent increases and a market rent order. We are concerned whether there will be sufficient copies of the act available in the main centres in time.—Yours, etc., J. KITSON, Editor, “The Landlord.” December 23, 1986.
