Burglars raid Sydenham toy shop

Toys valued at more than $5OOO were taken when burglars raided a Sydenham toy shop early yesterday morning. Fifteen radio-controlled car kits, valued from $2OO to $6OO each, were among items taken from Sydenham Cycles and Models, in Colombo Street. The owner of the shop, Mr Bob Hooker, said that the burglars had gained •entry by breaking through a metal-clad door. No damage was done

inside the shop, he said, but the burglars were selective and -took only the best-quality stock. Mr Hooker said that the clock on the till stopped at 4 a.m., which he believed was the time of the burglary. Security at the shop would be strengthened. Anyone who saw suspicious activity near the shop early yesterday morning is asked to get in touch with the Sydenham police.
