$3.5M project at Riccarton
A $3.5 million office block will be built in Riccarton for the S.I.M.U. Mutual Insurance Association. Work on the new building, to be built by Fletcher Development and Construction, Ltd, is expected to start soon. Demolition of the existing building at 116 Riccarton Road is already complete. Mr Tony McNamara, a development consultant for Fletcher Development and Construction, said the building would have four storeys of concrete block and glass with .decorative metallic tiles on the exterior. “The third-floor office space features a walk-
round terrace, allowing for commanding views over Deans Bush,” he said. Mr McNamara said he felt investment in Riccarton was a good idea. “Riccarton Road is a major arterial traffic route into and out of the central business district and carries about 24,000 vehicles a day on average. It is a highly successful district shopping and commercial centre.” Fifty car-parks have been provided on the site. The building, designed by C. R. Thomas and Associates, should be complete by September next year.
