New College javelin mark
Christ’s College might well have produced another top javelin thrower. At the college’s annual athletics championships, the senior javelin record established by the 1986 Commonwealth Games representative, John StapyltenSmith. was surpassed by Marcus Stewart. His best throw pushed the mark out to 59.88 m. Another impressive field events performance came from Andrew Crossland, a leading forward in the First XV. In the open hammer throw he set a new figure of 56.80 m. Other record-breakers were almost all throwers —
Kane Dickie, junior shot Ulssm>. Greg Fhller, junior discus (,39.85m), and Ben Winters, under-14 shot (IO.StSm). The only other new mark was set' by Scott Fowler, with a leap of 1.58 m in the under-14 high jump. Individual champions were;— Senior. Jordan Scott (Corfe House); intermediate, Nick Greenwood (Julius) and Nick Dumerge (Corfe) equal; junior, Richard Martin (Harper); under-14. Scott Fowler (Richards). Jacobs won both the House Challenge Cup (most points) and House Standards Cup, while CoadeHs won the House Relay Cup.
