Inquiry to continue

The police investigation into the disappearance of Louisa Damodran has not ended in spite of the appearance of a man in the District Court charged with her murder. A big team of detectives will continue to work on the case, interviewing witnesses and dealing with the many telephone calls from the public. Some are still involved in the search along the Waimakariri River, in which Louisa Damodran’s body is believed to have been thrown. Detective Inspector Mai Griebel, who heads the inquiry, said that the police still wanted to hear from anyone on Wednesday afternoon who had seen the black and lightcoloured Holden Belmont car linked to the child’s disappearance. The police want to hear of the car’s movements in a number of areas, including Kaiapoi, Bromley, New Brighton, North Beach, Marshland, Lower Styx, Spencer • Park, Brooklands, Stewarts Gully, and near the Waimakariri River.
