Pupils share chess title

Andrew Jefferies (Burnside High School, Form IV) and Jamie Kirk (Christchurch 8.H.5., Form III) shared the Canterbury Chess Club’s Forms I to IV pupils tournament title after drawing their game in the last round. . Kirk was a member of the "C.B.H.S. A team which retained the A grade title in "The Press” schools’ championship in the second term, while Jefferies was in the Burnside A team which failed to make the play-off series. The top pair scored 4>/J points from a possible five, while third place was shared by Graeme Crombie (Burnside High School, Form IV) and David Lean (Sumner School, Form II), with four. The Form I grade was won by Simon Brant (Heaton Intermediate) with three points.
