Local government
Sir, — I suggest your correspondent, B. Andrews (September 29), makes his views known to the Labour Government. I understand the general elections will probably be held next September (1987). It is sad that a person standing for election for the council is so confused about the differing responsibilities of central and local government. I would suggest that if it wants to retain any public credibility at all, the Citizens’ Association should start telling the voters what it hopes to achieve over the next three years. — Yours, etc.,
ALEX CLARK. September 29, 1986.
