Minister removed

NZPA-Reuter Moscow The Soviet Minister of Merchant Marine has been removed from his post less than a month after a Soviet liner sank in the Black Sea with the loss of 398 lives. The official Tass news said Timofei Guzhenko, aged 68, who had run the Ministry since January, 1970, had retired on a pension. The announcement of his removal was phrased tersely and made no mention of thanks for his service. The liner Admiral Nakhimov sank on August 31 after a collision with a cargo ship. The authorities arrested the captains of both ships.
