Date change

The date of the Waikato Yearling Sale in January next year has been changed to avoid a clash with the “Magic Million” Yearling Sale in Queensland. Mr Michael Floyd, managing director of the sales vendors, Wrightson Bloodstock, said that the Queensland sale had been brought forward to coincide with the running of the “Magic Million” two-year-old race, at Southport, on January 10. There will be 400 yearlings offered at the twoday Queensland sale on Sunday, January 11, and the day after. That Monday is the traditional starting point for the Waikato sale.

The three-day Waikato sale is now scheduled to commence on Tuesday, January 13 and conclude on Thursday, January 15. Investigations are underway as to the feasibility of chartering a direct flight from Brisbane to Auckland on the Monday evening to enable buyers to attend the Waikato sale.
