Diabetes research to benefit from meeting

The Canterbury Jockey Club’s meeting at Riccarton on Saturday will also be a fundraising day for the Diabetes Research Unit.

The Zonta Club of Christchurch, which is a women’s service group, has arranged sponsorship of a number of races, and the proceeds will go towards diabetes research.

Companies which have already agreed to sponsor races are Kodak New Zealand, Ltd, Kent Prior Real Estate, and the sharebroking firm of Hamilton, Hindin and Greene. Miles Laboratory will donate $3OOO worth of glucometers, which are issued to diabetics for individual testing. The Zonta Club plans to make Saturday a real fun day at the races.
