Home delivery ‘assured’

PA Wellington The future of the home delivery milk service was assured, said the Milk Board’s chairman, Mr Brian Kimpton.

The Milk Board had had serious concerns initially about the fine print in the Government’s plan,

but a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture, Mr Moyle, had confirmed that the Government was prepared to take the time necessary to ensure there would be a deregulated system providing yearround, cost-efficient household and bulk delivery of milk, said Mr Kimpton.

“I can confidently assure Mr Murray and his federation that the Government does recognise the importance of the home delivery service and will be working with the Milk Board and other industry groups towards a satisfactory and workable plan for the future,” Mr Kimpton said.
