Double Lang takes time honours at Wingatui
special correspondent - Dunedin Double Lang took the time honours among candidates for the Oamaru Jockey Club’s meeting on Monday to work
at Wingatui yesterday morning. Double Lang ran 800 m with Diamond Blaze in 53.8, the last 600 m in 40.8 s on a heavy sand. He was ridden by Robin Montgomery, who has the ride in the first leg of the T.A.B. double and treble on Monday. Duisburg looked well-for-ward for the second leg of the T.A.B. double and treble at Oamaru when he ran 1000 m with Alley Sea in 1:7.3, the opening 400 m in 25.35. Paul Richards rides Duisburg, which is among several members of Mick Didham’s team making a fresh start at Oamaru.
Pauleric and Bright Prelude were easing down at the finish of 1000 metres in 1:7.4, the last 800 m in 54.35.
Noble Pal and Katika Rose recorded 54.3 s for 800 m.
Friendly Boy, which will be ridden by John Dowling on Monday, ran 1000 metres in 1:7.4, the last 800 m in 54.35.
Noble Pal, which will be ridden by John Dowling on Monday, ran 1000 m with Seafarer in 1:7.5, the last 800 m in 55.55. Jim Pankhurst, who trains the pair, has returned from Southport where he is negotiating to buy a property. The timing of his shift there will depend on the outcome.
Highland Peer and Baliway were at speed just after passing the 1200 metres and did well. to return 1:8 for 1000, BOO in 555.
