Peter Johnson successful in Singapore

Special correspondent Auckland The former Takanini jockey, Peter Johnson, is

home for a week after making a thoroughly suct° bis riding stint ln Singapore.

From 150 race-rides since March, Johnson has managed 22 wins for second place on the jockeys’ table, four behind Mark Setches, who he gave nearly three months start

Johnson is able to take his present holiday because his employer, Teh Choon Beng, has no runners at Kuala Lumpur

this week-end. He will return to Singapore next Tuesday. Johnson, who rode work at Takanini yesterday morning, had good news, too, of David Ow Yang, a young Singapore jockey who returned home early this year after completing his apprenticeship at Takanini from Trevor McKee’s stable.

Ow Yang won a double at Kuala Lumpur last week-end and has chalked up seven wins since his return home.
