ists in Albinoni’s Concerto for two oboes with the University of Canterbury String Orchestra in the Great Hall. In 1983 the Amici’s director, John Pattinson visited Canada and met several leading composers and musicians. 1986 is International Year of Canadian Music and each Amici programme this year will contain a Canadian work. Sunday’s concert will open with the overture to Joseph Suesnel’s opera “colas tr Jlinette”, The music of Benjamin Britten will be the other theme of this year’s programme, beginning with the Sinfonietta, Op.l, his first published work. The programme will end with the colourful Serenade, 0p.44 by Dvorak, scored for the unusual combination of wind instruments, cello and double-bass.

Sunday’s concert begins at 7.30 p.m.
