Call to meet log sale loss
Greymouth reporter The Wildlife Service of the Internal Affairs Department should meet the expected financial loss from the sale of beech logs for chipwood in the Inangahua area, said the principal officer of the West Coast United Council yesterday. The Minister of Forests, Mr Wetere, said this week that the Forest Service might lose considerably more than $43,000 from the 50,000 cu m sale of beech logs for chipwood. However, the officer, Mr Stapleton, said that the beech scheme Itself was not running at a loss.
