Long night for Mexicans
NZPA-Reuter Mexico City Two people were shot dead, hundreds were injured and at least 150 robberies committed as a a night of celebrations turned into anarchy in Mexico City after the national team’s latest World Cup victory, police said yesterday.
Eleven people were killed in car crashes as they returned from celebrations in other parts of the country, transport authorities said. About 100 people were arrested in Mexico City but the thousands of police guarding central areas of the capital seemed powerless.
