Survivors ‘living dead’
NZPA-AP Boston The Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident had created “a new generation of the living dead,” says a cardiologist who examined some of the victims in a Moscow hospital.
Dr Sidney Alexander, of Newton, Massachusetts, said the radiation victims “literally have a time bomb ticking within,” like survivors of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima in World War II who later succumbed to cancer.
