Escaper back in jail
A Paparua Prison escaper, Ashley Noel Fulton, was back behind bars in Christchurch last evening. Fulton, aged 26, escaped on June 3 while serving a seven-year sentence imposed in 1982 after he was convicted of rape." He was apprehended in Westport on Sunday. Yesterday, in the District Court at Greymouth, he was remanded in custody by Messrs R. F. Beadle and L. N. Downes, Justices of the Peace, to appear in the court at
Christchurch on June 20 to answer an arrest warrant issued by that court.
Fulton was transferred to Christchurch late yesterday afternoon by air.
