Plaque marking visit
A plaque will be presented to the master of the Sifnos Island this morning to mark the vessel’s first visit to Lyttelton.
The Sifnos Island berthed on Saturday to unload a cargo of plastic products and resin from Mexico. <
The traffic manager for the Lyttelton Harbour Board, Mr David Jones, will present the plaque bearing the board’s coat of arms.
Tne vessel, ouut m japan last year for a Greek shipping company, displaces 11,200 tonnes, is 145 metres long, and carries general cargo. The Sifnos Island is expected to call at Lyttelton about every two months. The vessel is due to sail for Tauranga today. ARRIVALS Rex Star (6 a.m.), 3777, Onehunga (Scales).
