Badminton and table tennis
The Methven Badminton and Table Tennis Club is organising two tournaments for Thursday, June 26.
The table tennis tournament will be run as an open men’s singles and an open ladies’
singles. Play will be on a round-robin system, with winners of each going through to the play-offs. As there will be no Mid-Canterbury competition that night, the club is hoping for a good entry. The badminton tournament will be run as a men’s doubles and a ladies’ doubles. As badminton is not played as competitively in MidCanterbury as elsewhere, it was felt players would show more interest in a doubles tournament Both competitions will be at the Mt Hutt Memorial Hall. Depending on the number of entries, the facilities at the High School may also be used.
Entry fees of $3 can be sent to Mrs J. Ridge, No. 2 R.D. Rakaia (badminton), and Mrs R. R. Cochrane, 2 Allen Street Methven (table tennis).
