Training delayed
PA Wellington Grounding of three of the Royal New Zealand Air Force Strikemaster jet trainers for the last two months has delayed several pilot training courses. A course which graduated from Ohakea last week was delayed several weeks by the grounding, said an Air Force spokesman, Squadron Leader Doug Wiklund.
The grounding affected subsequent courses. The three planes were grounded for inspection in March because the maker, British Aerospace, revised its estimates of wing fatigue life. The three Strikemasters were all due for extensive inspections of their wings. Two are expected to be back in service soon. It is not yet known when the third will return.
