Awards for inventions
PA Hamilton Five entrants in the fanner invention competition at the field days at Mystery Creek, Hamilton, won awards. They were: David Tudor, Frankton (hay feeder); Gerard Lear, Australia (Irrigation tool); Maurice Devane, Taihape (U.Q. jumper); E. D. Loynes, Taupiri (adjustable vat stirrer); John Burling, Eltham (double-opening electric gates). Prototype awards:
Nu-pulse New Zealand, Hamilton (air injector); Lincoln College Agricultural Engineering Institute (inspection window); C. Johnston, Hamilton (“Eze pull” fencing plier); A.H.I. Plastic Moulding Company, Hamilton (A.H.I. culvert pipe); Agricultural Machinery Research Centre, Massey University (dual purpose seed drill hydraulics); Te Pari Products, Ltd, Fending (“Dress-o-matic” sheep slaughter system); Instrument Supplies, Ltd, Hamilton (pressure drench system). Hayes Ingenious Methods Awards were: Mark Oster, Otorohanga (waratah lifter); Joe Cunningham, Hastings (front hydraulic system); A. R. Mylmine, Oamaru (sheep yard to goat yard conversion); Dale Speedy, Ngatea (herringbone shed cow stopper); R. W. Butcher, Waverley (manual seed driller); Michael Forlong, Ashhurst (sheep handler and shearing table); Jim Sharland, Cambridge (tree protector).
