U.S. karate trip
Wayne Petersen, a black-belt member of the Okinawa-Te Karate Club, will fly out of Christchurch on Sunday for three months training in the United States. Petersen will be based in Los Angeles training under the grand master of the style, Shihan Gordon Doversola. While there he will train in such aspects as
combat karate through to weaponry and will also compete in tournaments. Petersen, who is trained by Sensei Mike Lee, the founder of Okinawa-Te in Christchurch, has won a number of placings in South Island and national karate tournaments. The trip reciprocates the visit to New Zealand last year by Mr Doversola.
