Soccer coach stands down

Colin Senior, the coach of the beleaguered Sharp Copiers Western team which is bottom of the Hertz Soccer League, has resigned. He stood down from the position at a meeting of the Western club’s board last evening. The job will be advertised and a new coach will be appointed next Wednesday. Mr Senior took over the coaching role at the start of the season, replacing Ron Healing, who had been in charge for the previous two years. Mr Senior had coached West-

ern’s premier division side last winter.

For its league match tomorrow against Budget House Rangers, Western will be in the hands of a former coach, Tony Harvey, who has helped the club in a coaching capacity in recent seasons.

Western has had a dismal start to the season. It escaped relegation to the premier division last winter with a 1-0 win over Shamrock in its final match, and has lost all four league games this season, conceding 17 goals in the process.
