Smith finishes sixth
NZPA-Reuter ■; San Diego, California The New Zealand golfer, Marilyn Smith, shot a final round 77 to finish sixth in the SUS2OO,OOO ($364,000) L.P.G.A. San Diego Classic. Smith finished 12 strokes behind the winner, Patty Sheehan, of the United. States, who dropped an 18-foot birdie
putt at the final hole to break a deadlock with Pat Bradley, also of the United States. The winning putt ended Bradley’s rally, which saw her come from three strokes behind to share the lead with three holes to play. Sheehan carded a two-under-par 70 for a fourday total of 278, 10 under par, to defeat Bradley by a stroke.
