Easy for Lord Louie

Lord Louie made light work of his 70m handicap to win the C 3 and faster pace, the main trial at the North Canterbury 0.T.8. workouts on Sunday. Driven by lan Cameron, Lord Louie improved sharply from the 1200 m to sit outside the pacemaker, Bobanish, then outstayed him to win by a head with Major Padero a further two lengths away third. The winner’s time was 3:28.5 (for 2600 m), with the last 800 m in 60.2 while the final 400 m took 30s.

Isle of Skye was credited with the fastest time among the maideners when he led for the last 1400 m to win unextended by four lengths in 3:33.4 (for 2600 m). Aramante and Racing Game headed the chase after him. The last 800 m was taken in 63.25, with the final 400 m in 31.85.

Taxing (3:34.8) and Explorer (3:43.4) were other maiden heat winners

while Kylies Pride was successful in the CO trot, in 3:48.2.

Dancing Armbro finished strongly to outstay Jaycee by a neck in 3:41 in the Cl and faster trot. The last 800 m was run in 62.8, while the last 400 m took 30.5.

Mighty Vale (Sholty— Star Vale) led throughout to win the first two-year-old parade in 3:00.7 (for 2200 m), running the last 800 m in 62.5 and the final 400 m in 30.8. Squibbly Dee (Clever InnocenceGoal Dee) showed further improvement when he was unextended to win the second heat in 3:02.1, the last 800 m in 63.1 and the final 400 m in 32.1. Black Douglas , (El Patron —Cheval’s Pride), a member of Maurice Vermuelen's Rangiora team led throughout to win his heat in 3:06.4, while the final heat was won by the Leicester Tatterson trained Dardanus (Nat Lobell—Wicitoria) in the slowest of the four heats, 3:16.6.
