Prayer book by 1989

PA Rotorua The Anglican Church seems likely to have a New Zealand prayer book in use by 1989.

However, the new prayer book is likely to be used as an alternative to the present Book of Common Prayer rather - than as a replacement. The Anglican General Synod, meeting in Rotorua, yesterday called a special synod meeting for next year to consider the material for the new book. In the meantime, a Prayer Book Commission will prepare a list of services for submission to the synod, including the

Liturgy of the Eucharist, Orders of Service, Holy Baptism and Confirmation, man-iage and funeral services, and the ordinal.
