NZPA coverage

PA Wellington The New Zealand Press Association will send a staff correspondent to cover the forthcoming rugby matches in South Africa in which a number of New Zealanders will play.

The correspondent would provide news reports on all aspects of the tour, including match reports and off-the-field cover, said the editor of NZPA, Mr Derek Round, yesterday.

NZPA will also send staff correspondents to cover the New Zealand cricket tour of England,

the Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh, and the Wallabies’ rugby tour of New Zealand. Radio and Television New Zealand plan news and current affairs coverage of events surrounding the “rebel” rugby tour of South Africa. Neither will provide commentaries on matches, however, as the tour is unofficial. Private radio will contract a South African journalist to provide news coverage but will not provide commentaries through its sporting network.
