Two correspondents fear that their letters, perhaps because of their own handwriting, may have been meaningless to readers; David Shanks, writing on Mom day, said: “Bert Walker, congratulating in the name of Western Samoa the decision of a handful of local rugby union wallahs, is of course wildly ex? travagant.” When “congratulating” appeared as “congratulations” the letter was confusing; So was Jill Wilcox’s printed reference to a peace “dome” circling the crowds in Hagley Park for the Peace and People’s Day. Most readers would probi ably have decided that she was referring to a peace dove. —J Editor.
