Gulf food fair

PA Wellington When the Bahrain Exhibition Centre opens its doors on Saturday for the Gulf States’ biggest food and catering fair, more than 50 products from New Zealand will be there for the tasting. Seven major exporting companies will present a combined “Taste of New Zealand” display at the trade-only show, which is expected to attract more than 4000 influential importers, restaurateurs and caterers during its fiveday run. Following the recent trade mission to the Middle East, led by the Minister of Overseas Trade, Mr Moore, the New Zealand contingent has high hopes of capturing a significant share of the sales. partment of Trade and Industry, the display will, feature prime cuts of lamb and beef, specialty meats, cheeses, seafood, kiwifruit, stonefruit, berries, apples and pears, canned and frozen products, icecream, pies, pastries and breakfast cereals. Held every two years, Mefex is the Gulf region’s largest international trade show for suppliers of food, equipment and processed goods. It has attracted exhibitors from more than 20 countries.
