‘Flexible’ farmers
PA Wellington Sheepfarmers have to be flexible to react to changes in the new mar-ket-related mutton and lamb schedule, says the executive director of the Meat Industry Association, Mr Peter Blomfield. He said yesterday he could understand how some farmers could have difficulties coming to grips with the schedule. “After one schedule for the whole of the last season some farmers will no doubt have a certain apprehension about farming for a schedule which can change weekly in line with market realities,” he said.
“If they want to be part of the system, farmers will have to be flexible enough to react to the schedule.”
